Parkin’ at the Park
MmmK and I had a blast bringing the Wienermobile to Fireman’s Park in the Prairie. Fireman’s Park is a fantastic handicap-accessible playground that was designed and built by volunteers and community members of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
Alongside the Wienermobile, members of the Sun Prairie community served free lemonade and painted faces for all of the happy kids.
I suppose I was an unoriginal, uncreative child because when I was a kid, I would always ask to have my name painted on my face, which in retrospect, is a totally odd request.
I also got a fair share of hearts, stars, horseshoes, clovers and blue moons painted on my face – all completely trite and commonplace shapes that resemble the marshmallows in your cereal box.
But in Sun Prairie, I learned that smiles aren’t the only thing that the Wienermobile puts on kids’ faces. Isaac, Jonathan and Cailen loved the Wienermobile so much that each of them got one painted on their face! I don’t only wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener, but I wish that I had pictures from my childhood of the Wienermobile featured on my cheek. If you look through my mom’s photo albums, you will probably find completely bland photos of me with circles and squares painted on my face.
