Lumberjack ATTACK!!!
Since the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is a famous Wisconsin landmark, we thought it was a good idea to see more of the state’s unique features on our Dairy State tour, such as the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, WI.
Although we arrived in Hayward three weeks before the event, we were still able to test our skills at the Lumberjack Bowl, thanks to our two nimble semi-professional log rolling coaches, James and Wyat.

In log rolling, the two competitors fight to stay afloat by running on top of a log and trying to sink the other lumberjack. I heard these matches can last several minutes before a competitor takes a tumble but I, however, was lucky if I stayed dry for several seconds. As we all expected, Wyat threw me in the lake.
Later, I donned some cleats and tried out the boom run, where two competitors race across parallel lines of rolling logs. I made it to the fourth log before crashing into the lake, so I think there’s potential to hit the semi-pro boom run circuit in 2011. Look out, Hayward.
