A Visit from Pepper Jack Patrick

It’s always great to see a familiar face, especially when we’re so far away from home. That’s why I was elated to see my boyfriend, Patrick, in Reno, NV. We explored the biggest, little city in the country and he got to experience a day in the life of an Oscar Mayer Hotdogger. From photoshoots to riding shotbun, Patrick really fit into the world of a Wienermobile driver. It was a truly bunderful hometown reunion and I was the happiest little Hotdogger.

While in Nashville, TN Beefy Brian and I met Mitzi, a singer/songwriter and frankfurter fanatic! She serenaded us with her own version of the famous Oscar Mayer Jingle, and hot dog does she have a bunderful voice! Check it out.

A Wienermobile from the Past…

Although everyone can see the 1952 Wienermobile on display in the Henry Ford museum, not many people have pictures of the 1952 Wienermobile from back in the day. We met a lady in Lancaster, PA who had some photos and memories to share from her hot dog meat up back in 1955.

Meating up with past Hotdoggers is always a moment to relish, but ketching up with one getting married, that is a bun-believable time! Caileigh con Queso and I are so happy we were able to be a part of Hotdogger Tammy’s special day in Kansas City, MO. It has been 12 years since she sat behind the wheel of the Wienermobile, and she couldn’t pass up the chance to make the Wienermobile a guest of honor.

As we wrap up our tour with the Wienermobile and begin to say our goodbyes, I thought I would recount all of the fun and exciting adventures I shared with my co-pilot, Dylan. From the snowy mountain tops in Washington to the deserts of Nevada we relished our time in the Northwest with our trusty dog, IWSHIWR. We sang at the top of our lungs on long drive days and took advantage of every opportunity to see a beautiful part of our country. Hot Dog King Celebrates 40 Years

A hidden hot dog gem in Virginia celebrated it’s 40th anniversary this year. The locals in Williamsburg and Newport News know this diner as the “Hot Dog King”. Yes, that is a dog gone long time for a hot dog stand to stay in business, and some families have been eating at the Hot Dog King since in opened back in 1972.

Taylor and I stopped by the Hot Dog King restaurants, and we were happy to join in the celebration and meat some of the locals!

It turns out that the last Wienermobile to visit the Hot Dog King restaurant was the 1988 model. There were some pictures inside, but this artist’s rendering was one of my personal favorites!

MEAT up with Mustard Monica

Once Hotdoggers finish driving the Wienermobile for a year and pass down the keys, they officially become Hotdogger Alumni. Driving across the country in a 27-foot-long piece of Americana can be quite the experience. Therefore, meating up with people that had that opportunity is a great way to ketchup and reminiscence.

While in San Diego, CA, Ketchup Kylie and I had the chance to meat up with Monica. In 1994, Monica was part of Class VII and drove the 1988 Wienermobile model all across the country! Since they didn’t have Hotdogger names back then, we decided to give her an official Hotdogger name — Mustard Monica.

After waiting 8 years, Mustard Monica finally got the chance to show her daughter Sofia (also known as Salchicha Sofia) the Wienermobile and share her experience as a Hotdogger.

We sure had fun meating up! This is definitely a moment we can all relish.

We Hotdoggers get complimented on our franktastic gear all the time. You may remember Dylan’s blog post back in October about the latest and hottest trends we sport every day from our ketchup-colored polos to our mustard-colored rain coats. We can always be spotted wearing a Wienermobile logo; and why not? We’re proud of our dog.

That’s why I commissioned my dad, Albertomato, and my boyfriend, Pepper Jack Patrick, to design some fancy footwear that I could sport on drive days and still feel connected to home. Albertomato put his graphic design skills to use to draw a great looking Wienermobile on the right shoe and Pepper Jack Patrick used his neat and precise handwriting, commonly found in most engineers, to write a bit of the famous Wiener Jingle on the left shoe. I’m proud to show off the work of two fantastically skilled artists. Not to mention, I can now sport Wienermobile gear from head to TOE.

Juicy Dog Julia

Every since Julia can remember, she’s been a fan of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. Her friends know her as the Wienermobile fanatic, bringing her all sorts of Wienermobilia they can find. Over the years, she’s collected quite the assortment of Oscar Mayer momentos that she proudly shows off at her home and at the office.

Juicy Dog Julia learned that YUMMY was coming to her hometown of Evansville, Indiana and she was ecstatic. With high spirits and a grin as big as YUMMY’s, she left work early to see the dog in person. She gushed to Lucky Dog Lauren and I about just how much she relishes the sight of the Wienermobile, how she’s always dreamed of having a ride in the Wienermobile, and how she imagines how good YUMMY would look parked right outside her house.

Her enthusiam was endless, and we knew we couldn’t leave Evansville without fulfilling her wish. The very next day, Lucky Dog Lauren and I picked up Juicy Dog Julia and her family and drove them home for their family photo. To our surprise, we were happily greeted by her friends and neighbors with a true Oscar Mayer hot dog cookout! We parked our buns and enjoyed some dogs right off the grill in the company of Juicy Dog Julia and her thoughtful friends and family. But there was more in store for us… Juicy Dog Julia returned to the Wienermobile wearing Wienermobile pajamas! Can you bunlieve that? She truly is a Wienermobile fanatic.

Boys Club XXIV

Well ladies and gents, we Wienermobile drivers have been on the hot dog highways for some time now, and I think is the moment that you see the men of Class 24 in a new way…

No buns about it, we are hotdoggin’ good friends. Outnumbered by our franktastic female-hot-dog-driving counterparts 2 to 1 (8 ladies, 4 gents), we doggin’ dudes do our best to ketchup throughout the year. Whether with fantasy football, college basketball brackets, or grilling/chilling, Boys Club XXIV is always united (of course the lady ‘doggers are always invited to and welcomed at any of the aforementioned activities!)

We are a close knit group no matter which way you try to slice it. Some may even call us a Brotherhood of Bologna, a Syndicate of Salchichas, a Conglomerate of Cold Cuts, or a League of Lunchmeats… but we prefer to call ourselves Boys Club XXIV.
