Cheesy Weenies at the Grill

For our last partner lunch date in the Pacific Northwest, Tera Louise with Cheese and I went to lunch at Portland, Oregon’s Grilled Cheese Grill. The restaurant is a converted old school bus, and its extensive menu of all kinds of savory and sweet cheesy sandwiches is a great compliment to the meaty Wienermobile. Driving the Wienermobile has sparked my interest in not only quirky vehicles, but also the rapidly expanding food truck industry. Who needs a fancy five star restaurant when you can munch on customized twists of a childhood favorite in such an unique setting? This hipster hang out was a perfect lunch for a couple of cheesy weenies to end their northwest tour.

Instead of blue skies like the Wienermobile, the Grilled Cheese Grill’s ceiling features a mural with an artistic and bizarre blend of mythical creatures and whimsical design. Vinyl seats are converted into dining booths and tables are decorated with vintage yearbook photos.  This is definitely a bus I’d want to take to school every day. Unfortunately, the bus stays put on Alberta street.

Franks for the great memories, Portland!!
