Hotdogger Story Time

For anyone who has read Tailgatin’ Traci’s post titled Hotdoggers Hit the Books, you know we enjoy visiting libraries to meat the locals during our coast to coast weenie roast. Roswell, New Mexico was no different as Tailgatin’ Traci and I had the bunderful opportunity to join Story Time at the Roswell Public Library.

After listening to some stories and enjoying a little arts and crafts time, we were able to share the Wienermobile with our story time pals and talk about our adventures across the hotdog highways of America.

UTH (Unidentified Traveling Hot Dog) Lands in Roswell

In the small town of Roswell, New Mexico, it is believed that an UFO crash landed in the 1940’s and started a whirlwind of speculations that has carried on for decades.

This year, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobilewas the new traveling object that became the talk of the town as we landed for a week in Roswell, New Mexico. After visiting the International UFO Museum, we felt a little more connected with the culture of the town and decided to get RELSHME in on the frenzy as well.

While we didn’t see any real extra-terrestrials roaming about, we can report that our time in Roswell was truly out of this world!

RELSHME Visits the Nation’s Smallest Town

The Wienermobile visits all sorts of towns big and small during its coast to coast weenie roast and recently, Tailgatin’ Traci and I were able to visit the nation’s smallest town.

That’s right, Buford, Wyoming has a total population of one person and we were the lucky dogs able to meat up with him. Don, the one citizen and also the Mayor of Buford, was able to ketchup with the Wienermobile as we stopped to fill up on some high octane mustard in the town’s trading post and gas station.

According to Don, the population used to be two but once his son grew up, he decided to move claiming that there weren’t enough girls. Well, on this day, there was a 27-foot-long hot dog that was truly the talk of the town!

First Snow Day Experience

For this native Texan girl, snow is not a normal occurrence. So, when I walked out to RELSHME one early October morning in Cheyenne, Wyoming, I was astounded by the sight of snow! Snow flurries are about as dramatic as it gets back home and it usually happens in late January or February (if it happens at all). So you get the picture, I had never sausage a thing.

As for my partner, Tailgatin’ Traci, snow is part of life in Wisconsin, and she had buns of fun watching me freak out at what I was seeing. She was a great help however teaching me to be extra cautious while driving and how to brush snow off the Wienermobile (which I had never done before).

And frankly, living and experiencing something so different from home is exactly what this job has to offer, and I am sure glad I was one of the lucky dogs able to cut the mustard.

Linking up with LTL LINK

During the annual Hotdogger Fall Staff Meeting, Tailgatin’ Traci and I had the bunderful opportunity to take LTL LINK out for a spin on the Hotdog Highways of Wisconsin. While our normal region is the Southwest, we had buns of fun driving this true hot dog hot rod from Madison to Menomonee Falls for a special event while in the area.

It was extra franktastic for my hotdogging partner who was able to spread extra Miles of Smiles in her home state, and as for this Texas girl, I had the pleasure of meating some local Sconnies with true Midwest Charm!

“Kraut” 66 Rendezvous

As a Hotdogger it is very important to  pay attention to the roads, highways and routes that get us from event to event so it was a Hotdogger’s dream to take part in the Route 66 Rendezvous in San Bernardino, California. As the largest cruising classic car show in Southern California, the Route 66 Rendezvous celebrated automobile history, so naturally the Wienermobile fit right in.

Historic-Kraut Fun Fact #1: The original Route 66 was established in 1926 which is 10 years before the first Wienermobile was created.

Historic-Kraut Fun Fact #2: One of the end points of Route 66 is Chicago, Illinois, the same city that the first Wienermobile debuted in 1936. Since then, the Wienermobile has been spreading Miles of Smiles across numerous roads and scenic-krauts including Route 66 itself.

Hotdogger Favorites

Now that the Hotdoggers of Class 24 have been on the road for a few months, I was curious to know what my team’s favorite part of the Wienermobile really was. Although driving the iconic 27-foot long hot dog on wheels is already a favorite part of the job, I wanted to know what part of the Wienermobile really brightened their day as they have now gotten acquainted with their new wheels. So, here are their answers, and I have to say they are all bunderful insights to what makes this job so dog-gone amazing!

Northwest Team: Caileigh con Queso and Bacon Lettuce and Taylor said the best part of the Wienermobile is the smiling grill because IWSHIWR has a smile that’s contagious and puts everyone in a good mood.

Midwest Team: Deli Fresh Danica and Beefy Brian said they love seeing the world through YUMMY’s windows during drive days. There is nothing like singing along to tunes on the radio while looking at the road through the Wienermobile windows.

Northeast Team: Dyl-icous and Ketchup Kylie said their favorite part of the Wienermobile is the bunroof! In the midst of the perfect cloud ceiling, the bunroof always ensures that it will be sunny skies in the Wienermobile.

Southeast Team: Lucky Dog Lauren and Reese with Relish said they love the Wiener Whistle drawer because it is the heart of the Wienermobile. Of course seeing the Wienermobile is great in itself, but the whistle is a great collectors item to help remember that special moment. It is a great feeling being the one to hand over the whistle, creating the memory.

South Team: Turkey Dog Tyler and Schnitzel Itzel said their favorite part is the Wienermobile sound system because they love to jam out to their favorite tunes during long drive days.

Southwest Team: Me and Tailgatin’ Traci just can’t live without our GPS system. We love it so much, we named her Karen-Kraut because she never leads us astray and allows us to travel the Hotdog Highways of America through every major road and scenic-kraut that we want to explore.

RELSHME Spreads Miles of Smiles in Bellemont, AZ

As our readers know, Oscar Mayer has been celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, and in honor, 75 cities voted to win a special appearance by the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. Because of this unique competition, Hotdoggers have brought miles of smiles to cities and towns that have never had the Wienermobile as a special guest before, such as Bellemont, Arizona.

Bellemont, Arizona, Wienermobile, Birthday, 75th

Frankly what made RELSHME’s visit to Bellemont, AZ so memorable was the fact that a town so small was still able to rally behind their effort to vote themselves as one of the top 75 winning cities. We drove through the neighborhood streets and surprising families on their way home from school and work. The look on most of their faces clearly showed that they never sausage a thing rolling down their street before.

With a stop to fill up on high octane mustard, passing out Wiener Whistles at the local fire station and seeing the pure surprise and enjoyment on the faces of the Bellemont residents, this event was one of our favorites as of yet. After meating a few of the locals, we also learned that the town just recovered from two tornadoes the previous year making our stop even more special to them. We always claim to spread miles of smiles across the Hotdog Highways of America, and this stop definitely proved the pure joy that a 27 foot-long hot dog on wheels can bring to a community.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

During our visit to the great state of Colorado, Tailgatin’ Traci and I went to a Colorado Rockies game. I really relished the experience because it was only my second professional baseball game that I have ever attended. Traci made sure I got the whole experience from eating sunflower seeds to singing in the 7th inning stretch.

Rockis, colorado, hotdoggers

Frankly, it was an awesome experience, and the fact that the Rockies were playing the Phillies made it even better. The Phillies are Bacon Lettuce and Taylor’s favorite team. We made sure to send her a picture and tell her we were thinking of her while we were there.

And for a last minute stop during our coast to coast wiener roast, our view of the field was pretty dog gone good. I think I will be frequenting baseball games more often if they are always buns of fun just like this one and the perfect occasion to tailgate with an Oscar Mayer hot dog.

Hotdogging Grandparents

While traveling the Hotdog Highways of America, keeping in touch with my family is an important part of my Hotdogger life. They are always interested to know where I am visiting and what new adventures I am partaking in. My grandparents are some of the most interested in my dog-ventures, and I wanted to take the time to thank them this Grandparents Day.

Just to prove how great they are, here is a picture of my grandma tracking my driving routes on her own map at home.

And, this is a picture of Grandma and Grandpa Bologna with the Wienermobile during a recent visit to our hometown of San Antonio, Texas.

So, thank you to not only my own franktastic grandparents but to all those grandparents who encourage, love and spoil there grandkids just like mine do!
