Life Inside the Wienermobile Vehicle

Stories from the road

Happy Halloweenie!

Rachel Relish and I definitely got into the spirit of Halloween this year and took our costumes to a whole different level. What would go better with a giant 27 foot long than two large bottles of America’s favorite condiments? Look at how “franktastic” we look with the Wienermobile

We saw so many “bunderful” costumes at the Richmond Community Church’s Fall Fest! What a great way to spend our Halloweenie!

Trying New Franks

While in Columbus, OH Rachel Relish and I paid a visit to a local hot dog joint. Neither of us had ever been to a restaurant that just served hot dogs so we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to go to one! There were so many different kinds of hot dogs that we couldn’t get just one. We ordered four and split them just so we could try all different kinds. All of the hot dogs were so “franktastic!” My favorite was the special, “El Perro,” a beef frank topped with guacamole, bacon, tomatoes, onions and cheese. Rachel Relish really loved the “Sriracha Slaw Dog,” a beef frank covered in coleslaw with a touch of sun-ripened chile garlic sauce, mustard and fresh onions. We also tried the “Classic Lady,” a beef frank drizzled with cheese sauce and crushed potato chips. And we had to get the classic “Chili Dog.” Check out how delicious these dogs look! Can you tell which one is which?

An Edible Wienermobile!

What a great looking Wienermobile cake!

What a great looking Wienermobile cake!

Rachel Relish and I would like to give a big “FRANKS A LOT” to Sendik’s in Whitefish Bay, WI for making us such a delicious Wienermobile shaped cake! We were absolutely delighted by the surprise from the store and couldn’t wait to take a bite! We were both lucky enough to be visiting family and were honored to share this delicious cake with them. Also take note of the “bunderful” ketchup and mustard colored boutonnieres that the floral department made for us. “Franks” again to all the “franktastic” staff at Sendik’s! It was great to “meat” you and we hope to “ketchup” with you soon!

Hot Dogs of All Kinds

Normally, Rachel Relish and I eat the traditional hot dog in a bun with a swirl of ketchup and mustard. But we are always open for new ways to try our dogs. Even if it comes in a fruity, gummy flavor. Of course we couldn’t pass this up!

OUR DOG Goes to the Ocean!

OUR DOG has made many trips to Rhode Island since Rachel Relish and I have started our coast to coast wiener roast which we really “relish” because we have become big fans of the Ocean State! And with those many trips we managed to go to the beach on every visit. We didn’t want OUR DOG to feel left out, so of course we took him with us to relax next to the ocean and work on getting that bun lightly toasted!

OUR DOG Never Felt So Small

At the Mystic Seaport OUR DOG was able to pull up next to the Charles W. Morgan, the oldest wooden whaling ship still in existence. This ship sure made the Wienermobile feel tiny when we’re used to feeling so big!

That sure is a big ship!

Dogs of All Kinds

At Dog Days at the Mystic Seaport, OUR DOG got to hang out with more of his four legged furry friends. We met dogs of all kinds…big ones, little ones, furry ones, and more! Even a celebrity visited the Wienermobile! Rufus, the 2006 Westminster Champion, came to get his picture taken with the Wienermobile with his hot dog hat!

Two Cute Dogs

When Rachel Relish and I drove past a fire department and saw this gigantic dog, there was no way we could pass it up! This painted rock is a memorial for Sparky, an old fire department dog. We had to pull OUR DOG up next to Sparky and get a picture of these two cute dogs together; because its not every day that we find a dog bigger than ours!

Deep Fried Goodness

Another delicious food on a stick!

No that’s not a corn dog, it’s a deep fried Twinkie! Although Rachel Relish and I enjoy a frank on a stick, we decided to try a Twinkie on a stick. And it sure was delicious! At the fair we also got to try a lot of other bunderful treats.
Check out that display!

Another new treat we tried was a corn fritter. We had never heard of a corn fritter, but were curious when everyone walking by was eating them and tempting us with the deep fried, golden ball of goodness. And what a franktastic bundle of battered and deep fried corn it was!
Look how big that fritter is! Yummy!

We can’t wait until the next fair where we can try more deep fried goodness!

Our Dog’s New Friends: The Louisville Fire Department

While in the Canton, OH area for some events for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Rachel Relish and I were lucky enough to become friends with the great men at the Louisville Fire Department. They truly made us feel at home. One of the retired firefighters even invited us to his home for a cook out, we “relished” the opportunity for a home cooked meal! And we especially enjoyed the leftovers we got to bring back to the hotel with us!

After the cookout, he took us down to the station so some of the firefighters could get a picture of the Wienermobile with the fire truck. After taking several pictures, they allowed Rachel and I to try on some of the firefighter gear and even gave us a ride in the fire truck! It was almost as cool as being in the Wienermobile.

The firefighters offered for us to come along with them to “hose off some kids.” So we followed the fire truck to a park where a baseball team was having an end of the year party. The firefighters attend every year and spray the fire hose so the kids can run around underneath the water like a sprinkler. The kids really looked like they were enjoying themselves.

The firefighters invited us back to the fire department later in the week for a home cooked breakfast followed by a wash for the Wienermobile. Keep in mind how shiny the fire trucks always look and the fact that we don’t fit in a normal car wash, so of course we said yes! The firefighters did a great job, I have never seen OUR DOG that shiny before!

“Franks” a lot to the men at the Louisville Fire Deparment, we can’t wait to “ketchup” with you again soon!
