Life Inside the Wienermobile Vehicle

Stories from the road

Dog Days in Seattle’s International District

While spending some dog days in Seattle, WA with R-Dog Rachel, she decided to give me a taste of what her culture is like. Seattle’s International District is full of some doggone fun, vibrant and unique things. We laid our paws all around the Asian market called Umaijimaya and noticed some MAYER-valous familiar treats! Oscar Mayer hot dogs, deli meats and Lunchables were among the many Wienerific treats the market had to offer.

R-Dog Rachel looked quite franktastic representing the Oscar Mayer brand at Umaijimaya!

We also spotted some Oreos and other cookie creations under the Kraft Foods brand.

I am hoping to bring my buns back to this hot spot next time I roll through Seattle!

Covering Our Bases

It’s not often we get to thank the troops for what they do for our country. R-Dog Rachel and I had a “dog-ortunity” to do so at a military base in McChord, Wa. We drove our buns onto base and showed of the Wienermobile for all to see and enjoy with friends and family.

The Wienermobile was a big hit and frankfully for us, the store was generous enough to donate free hot dogs and hot chocolate for those who came out to support the troops and peek at our hot dog hot rod.

It was great to ketchup with everyone on base and we were happy to have left some smiles in our rearview windows on the way out!

Hauling Buns with the very Best

R-Dog Rachel and I have shared buns and buns of memories together over the 7 months we spent on our coast-to-coast weenie roast. We have done it all from leading the first lap of an Indianapolis car race to spending some quality dog days with the children at the Boise Children’s Hospital and, of course, singing our favorite duets while hauling buns down the hot dog highways. As our legendary reign as a Power Hotdoggin’ Team (self-proclaimed of course) comes to an end, we spent our final miles of smiles together at a Fred Meyer store just outside Seattle, WA.

R-Dog has been a tubesteak lovin‘, hot dog dancin‘, condiment creatin‘, doggone darling of a partner and to be Frank, she has turned into my unofficial sister from another mister. As an Oscar Mayer Hotdogger, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner pairing and furter more, she will hold a tasty place in my heart for buns of years to come.

Rollin’ with Ronald

While in Spokane, WA, R-Dog Rachel and I decided to visit the children of the local Ronald McDonald House to spread some more miles of smiles. We got to show off our buns and teach kids all about the “dog-mentions” of the Wienermobile. R-Dog showed off her coloring skills while another little girl had some fun with the stickers we provided.

Before rolling out for the day, we gave a special Franks a Bun to the staff and families for letting us share their special time with us and made sure they knew how much of a Wiener Whistlin’ fun day we had at the Ronald McDonald House!

A Bunch of Weenies

When you’re a little kid you are often asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Sometimes we answer these questions with things like an astronaut, a movie star or even president of the United States of America! It’s not often you hear, “Well mom and dad, I want to drive a 27-foot long hot dog for a living!” Lucky for me, I found 11 other frank-fanatics with that exact dream.

These are my fellow Oscar Mayer Hotdoggers and we couldn’t have sandwiched together a better team!

As our year of a coast to coast weenie roast tour meats the middle of our journey, I am reminded of why each and every one of us got the coveted doggortunity to have the most relished job in the world. We all bring some unique condiments from all around the country that make us not only a great team, but a doggone wienerful family.

We are the 12 lucky dogs that bring the Wienermobile to the cities you know and love so we can show off our buns and leave a few smiles along the way. Feel free to chat with any of us along our travels; we always love a good old ketchup session!

From IWSHIWR to a Chili-Dog

While cruisin the hot dog highways, R-Dog and I have had the chance to do and see some pretty amazing things. Recently, while spending some time in Kent, WA, we got to ride our buns into a hometown Chili Cook-Off. There were BUNS of different types of chili; anything from veggie chili to the award-winning hottest and spiciest chili ever made in Kent, WA. R-Dog Rachel and I sampled all 22 chili’s and we loved seeing all the different tables dressed up for Halloweenie.

We also got the chance to meat a fellow hot dog enthusiast, Garrich, who visited the Wienermobile wearing a hot dog costume. We liked it so much we decided to give him the title of Wienermobile Mascot for the Day! Garrich got the low down on all the dog-mensions of the Wienermobile, learned some doggone awesome puns and even taught us some new ones. Hopefully you’ll ketchup with the Wienermobile again soon, Garrich.

The Chili Cook-Off was one of the Northwest team’s favorite memories so far and we hope the people of Kent, WA will remember when we parked our buns to spend the day with them and spread miles of smiles.

Meating a Delicious Friend

Life on the road can lead to buns and buns of new adventures. While at an event in Hermiston, Oregon, R-Dog Rachel and I found ourselves in the company of a true celebrity…the Oreo Man!

Thank you, Hermiston! Ketchup with you later…

Relish Every “Meating”

Being one of the lucky dogs that made the cut as a Hotdogger this year has given me opportuities and experiences that I will truly relish for my entire life. One thing about being a Hotdogger is getting the chance to meat new people every single day. It’s something that drew me to this lifestyle from the very beginning. Take, for instance, Melissa from Yakima, WA.

Melissa saw the Wienermobile from the road and decided to stop by our event at the Wal-Mart. I knew upon her arrival that she was someone special. She brought with her not only her enthusiasm for the Wienermobile, but she had the most positive attitude that you couldn’t help but feed off of. Thanks Melissa! It was a pleasure to meat you.

We also made a foreign friend! Vlad, from Russia, is one of the many amazing workers at the Nabisco Plant in Portland, Oregon. This employee really brought some fun to our Wienermobile and we had buns of fun giving him a tour and sharing the condiments.

Thanks for stopping by, Vlad! Hopefully we’ll ketchup with you again soon.

It is meating people like this that make the experience as a Hotdogger  something we’ll never forget. If you see me out there on the hot dog highways, come on over and say hello! It’s sure to be a doggone good time.

Taking the Wienermobile by Storm

While indulging in all the delicious activities at the Kids Fair in California, R-Dog Rachel and myself never knew who we’d get to meat. It just so happens that these two stormtroopers couldn’t keep their buns away from ours! R-Dog and I don’t scare as easily, although not my the looks of it, so we pulled out our best Darth Vader impression and sent these two bad dogs on their way…

“May the Force be with you, Wienermobile!”

From one Hotdogger to Another

After hearing that I, Tera Louise with Cheese, was one of the 12 lucky dogs who cut the mustard and earned a coveted spot as an Oscar Mayer Hotdogger, I was flooded with feelings, or condiments as we like to call them. Who should I spill the franks to first about this amazing opportunity? Where in the country will I find my buns in this year? Maybe one of the most meaty questions I had was which one of my fellow Hotdoggers will I be spending every day with for the next six months before we switch partners?
I found out soon enough that I was matched up with R-Dog Rachel in the Midwest/Northwest region of this doggone fabulous country. Since we had never met before, I’m sure we were both a bit nervous to meat up for the first time but as soon as we laid eyes on each other in the Chicago Airport we knew –  it was Hotdogger Fate!
We may have only known each other for a few short months, but it seems like we’ve been friends for as long as there have been hot dogs. She knows exactly when to bun-in and help me out when I’m having a bad day. She knows just what song to put on in the Wienermobile when I’m taking on the Hot Dog Highways. Not to mention, we do many franktastic renditions to any duet that may come to mind.
Yes dog-bloggers, R-Dog Rachel and Tera Louise with Cheese are a team made for Hotdogger History! If you see us hauling buns your way feel free to join us in song, dance and a good time. We’ll ketchup with you soon, America!
