Buns at the Beach

Well, it’s one of us, the guys and gals who drive the Wienermobile, criss-crossing the country, looking for bridges that are high enough to drive under so we don’t get stuck . We thought it was only fair that you get to see the inside of the Wienermobile – including the people driving it. So, that’s why we created this blog. We hope you enjoy reading our stories and experiencing what being a Hotdogger is all about. We appreciate every wave we receive on the road and are thrilled you’re reading and commenting here.
We’ll try to respond if we can… (after all, there’s a lot of ground to cover). – The Hotdoggers

Something I have really relished during my travels along the hot dog highways has been the opportunity to meat family and friends in new places across the country. I must admit, however, that my favorite place to park our buns has been none other than MY DRIVEWAY!
When the “dog“orrtunity presented itself to roll on over to my hometown, Brian the Bunderul and I really did turn my house into a “dog house”, a hot dog house, that is! The recent snow fall was the paw-fect backdrop to this once in a lifetime photo-op. Although my dad had to plow our driveway and my mom had to get the condiments of our house ready for this wiener-ific occasion, they were more than frankful for the chance to have us come home.
Pssssst, the picture above was taken out of the half-moon window at my house and that lovely lady in the left hand corner just so happens to be my grandma, or Teedy if you remember from a previous blog post.
Dearest Dog-Bloggers,
I would like to paws for a moment to dedicate today’s blog to the doggone best woman I know; my mom! As an honorary Hotdogger, she has been appointed the name Bologna Beth and I am really relishing the chance to get to tell her HAPPY BIRTHDAY the best way I see fit-on Hotdoggerblog.com! She is not only the strongest, funniest, most caring and loving woman I know, but frankly she is also my best friend. Furter more, if you see her rolling your way today be sure to give her the most Bunbelieveable hug from her Hotdoggin’ daughter and wish her the happiest of wiener wishes!
Happy Birthday, Mom! I love you BUNS!
As a proud Pennsylvania State University alum, I was MORE than excited when I realized I would have the “dog-ortunity” to take the Wienermobile back to my old stomping grounds. I got to drive this hot dog hot rod down College and Beaver Avenues playing the Oscar Mayer Wiener Jingle horn with pride! We took the Wienermobile to hot spots like the Creamery, the Joe Paterno statue at Beaver Stadium and of course all throughout the campus. We even parked these big buns right by the Thomas building!
It is a PSU tradition that after you graduate you get your picture taken with thise statue of the Nittany Lion. It turns out that on my graduation date in December 2009, we got hit with buns and buns of snow and I couldn’t get my picture taken. Lucky for me, my lucky dog days brought me back to the statue to FINALLY get my picture! Say, Cheeeeesy Weenies!
While rolling through the city of Philadelphia, Brian the Bunderful and I decided to take in some of the popular city sights. We parked our buns right downtown and set off to see some well known condiments of the city. We dug our paws into such things as Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Sonny’s (a Philly Cheesesteak MUST) and of course; the Rocky Statue.
All of these things are Philly staples but I must say my favorite part was the doggone Rocky Balboa statue located in front of the Art Museum. Ask any member in my family and they will tell you, “Eye of the Tiger”. I grew up relishing all the Rocky movies and to this day I still find myself cheering on our favorite underdog when he’s battling his opponent. I could even hear Rocky’s own words while I was hauling buns out of the city….”Yo, Adrien! I saw the Wienermobile!”
Seeing my baby, WNR MBLE, in a lineup with all 18-wheeler’s is not only every parent’s dream come true but also a doggone funny sight! WNR MBLE can’t help but draw the attention beside all these big trucks. It’s like watching Disney’s Cars movie in real life!
What a beaut, ladies and gentelemen. Yes, the driver’s of these MAC trucks do have some bragging rights of their own, but which of them can say that they have a hot dog hot rod like my set of wheels?
Recently, I had the chance to drive the Wienermobile to my hometown in Pennsylvania. I knew my first stop was to pick up one of my best friends….my grandma! Her name is Louise, but to family and close friends she is simply known as Teed or Teedy. Fun Fact: My Hotdogger name is in honor of her!
Teed is 84-years-young and has never seen the Wienermobile before. Frankly, I felt it was time to get my buns in gear and roll on over to her place and give her a sneak peek. Well, you could imagine her surprise seeing me burst through the door knowing that I have been on a coast-to-coast weenie roast for 7 months.
Not only did I get to give her a tour of the Wienermobile, but I appointed her official Hotdogger for a day. It was one of the most franktastic memories that I will take with me from the road and I know it’s something we will both be talking about for buns and buns of years to come!
