Hotdoggers travel in two regions of the country over the course of the year. In the Northeast I was used to buzzing cities with awesome skylines and now that I’m in the Northwest, I’ve come across a different type of skyline. While driving into Northern California we stopped to check out Mount Shasta, part of the Cascade mountain range. Since I’m new this region, I can’t help but stop at every beautiful vista we stumble upon during our travels and as always, the best view is from the bun roof of the Wienermobile!

You can get a great view of Seattle from atop the Space Needle. I however think the best view is through the bun roof of the Wienermobile! Check out this great nighttime shot of the famed 605-foot-tall landmark.

A special visit to your family in the Wienermobile is always something to Relish and my grandmothers are my biggest fans. While I was in Madison, WI I was afforded a few extra hours to sneak away to the small town of Portage, WI where my grandmas live.

It was truly a BUNderful visit. Not only did they get a personal tour of the Wienermobile but neighbors and friends came out to see it to. We sang a round of “Oh, I Wish I Were and Oscar Mayer Wiener…” and of course everyone went home with a Wiener Whistle.

While crusing around Chicago’s suburbs we came across a field of lights. The beautiful christmas lights caught our eye so we had to go check it out. Turns out we were outside Chicago Botanical Garden’s Wonderland Express. After further exploration we discovered more than just lights decorating the trees. Inside their exhibit was a recreation of Chicago’s most notable landmarks made from organic materials. There was even snow falling from the ceiling which truly made it a winter wonderland!

Hotdoggers are notorious for searching out local food across the country. Chicago is no exception. After hearing from numerous people that we should visit Hot Doug’s and Superdawg, we had to make a stop. Hot Doug’s is a small hot dog shop known for its interesting menu of hot dogs. I went for a rattlesnake sausage topped with cheese and a sweet sauce, while C. Melton Cheddar opted for the duck sausage. Guac’alupe decided on a more traditional Chicago style hot dog. We absolutely enjoyed the non-traditional approach to hot dogs. We also appreciated the amazing array of Wienermobile memorabilia Hot Doug’s had on display!

We also made a stop at Superdawg, a local drive-up hot dog restaurant. We went for the classic Superdawg topped with mustard, bright green relish, chopped onions, a pickle and hot peppers. No ketchup here, we’re in Chicago!

There are so many things to do in Louisville, KY! While we were out discovering the town we ran across the world’s largest bat rested nicely in front of the Louisville Slugger factory and museum. Legendary major league players have used these bats to win World Series and get inducted into the Hall of Fame. In the museum you can actually see how they make each bat. Sorry for the lack of photos on this. The Slugger factory keeps that a secret!

Here in the Midwest we’ve finally seen our first big snowfall of the year. I just had to snap a photo of the Wienermobile as the snowflakes started to fall gently on its buns.

Our schedule had us back in Wisconsin for a few days where I got to visit my home state. While there, we saw our first snowflakes of the season. It was a perfect Wisconsin welcome home! Thank goodness for those winter jackets!

While in Boston we took OUR DOG to visit the historical Village of Salem, MA.

Salem Witch Museum

We learned that Salem was the hometown of the Parker Brothers, famous for numerous board games including Monoploy, Clue, and Trivial Pursuit. In fact, Salem was the inspiration for the game of Clue.

It’s always a treat when a Hotdogger gets to take the Wienermobile home! Victory Dog Victoria and I had a few events scheduled in Milwaukee so I brought the Wienermobile to my hometown just west of the city. When I arrived, I was welcomed by family, friends, and neighbors followed by a delicious cookout complete with hot dogs and all the fixings. It was a FRANKtastic evening. Can’t wait to KETCHUP with everyone again!
