Ok, so you probably have no idea who a Hotdogger is and what a Hotdogger does.

Well, it’s one of us, the guys and gals who drive the Wienermobile, criss-crossing the country, looking for bridges that are high enough to drive under so we don’t get stuck . We thought it was only fair that you get to see the inside of the Wienermobile – including the people driving it. So, that’s why we created this blog. We hope you enjoy reading our stories and experiencing what being a Hotdogger is all about. We appreciate every wave we receive on the road and are thrilled you’re reading and commenting here.

We’ll try to respond if we can… (after all, there’s a lot of ground to cover). – The Hotdoggers

It Doesn’t Get Better Than…

As part of the Good Mood Mission Oscar Mayer has been asking people all over the country to complete the sentence “It doesn’t get better than…” to help raise food for Feeding America. While in Portland, OR we held a cookout for the guests our hotel by complete with all beef franks. I discovered one very good mood from this man we met. By the look on his face you can tell it doesn’t get better than enjoying a delicious hot dog inside the Wienermobile!

Do You Voodoo?

Voodoo Donuts is a Portland institution. So it was a matter of time before we ended up there while giving a couple of FRANKtastic ladies a ride of their lifetime around downtown Portland. We started the morning off right, showing up with the “Oh I Wish I Were…” Wienermobilehorn on and Wiener Whistles in hand. The ladies boarded the enormous dog, buckled their MEAT belts and we were off!

It was a warm and sunny day, perfect for sharing smiles and good moods. Our VIP shotbun rider for the afternoon hand BUNS of fun waving at pedestrians on the streets of Portland. We caused quite a stir. I doubt many of the people expected to see a 27-foot-long hot dog cruise by when they went out for thier lunch break. Before heading back, we made a stop for some sugary sweets. One of Voodoo’s signature donuts even has bacon on it!

Campfire Cookout at Crater Lake

Chris and I were so amazed by the beauty of Crater Lake after reading MmmK and A-Dog Alison’s blog that we had to make a visit of our own.

To make the experience extra fun we rented cabins near the lake to enjoy more of the great outdoors. Before we checked-in we stopped to get some delicious Oscar Mayer hot dogs to cook over the campfire. Turns out Select hot dogs work the best as they are much easier to slide onto a stick and roast over the flickering flames. Add a little ketchup and mustard and you’ve got a Franktastic meaty treat!

A Family of Wieners Loose in San Francisco

I wasn’t able to spend Easter with my family so they paid me a visit on the road to enjoy one of the best perks of being a Hotdogger….sightseeing! It was great to experience this beautiful city with my parents.

We wanted to Carpe Diem and do and see everything that makes this city famous. Fisherman’s Warf, Alcatraz, the “crookedest street”, and those incredible cable cars heading up steep inclines. My favorite part of the day was renting bikes and visiting the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. We had the perfect California day and took full advantage of the view. Below is a photo of momma “Relish” and me checking out the famous Painted Ladies victorian homes.

Do these houses look familiar? They were featured in the opening credits of the sitcomm Full House, set in San Francisco. Cut, it, out!

Nevada Sky

Who says you can’t teach an old horse new tricks? At the Reno Boys & Girls Club we had the pleasure of meeting Nevada Sky a beautiful wild Mustang. The owner told us the story of how the young horse was untrainable and no one wanted to adopt her. She was unpredictable and dangerous to ride and no one had faith she could be tamed.

She was finally adopted and after a lot of time, love and care, Nevada Sky became just as docile and rideable as any other show horse. The owner now attends fairs, festivals and kid events with the once wild mustang. What a BUNderful story! And, to top that hot dog, the rider in the photo Andy found himself standing in front of the Wienermobile with his horse for the second time in his life.

Pinewood Derby Fever

In Boise, ID the Wienermobile attended a local Boy Scout Pinewood Derby. What a FRANKtastic day complete with live derby action and delicious Oscar Mayer hot dogs smoking on the grill. Before the race started all the scouts and leaders came out for a group shot in front of the biggest hot dog there.

Next time they compete I think someone should build a pinewood derby car that resembles the Wienermobile. It may not be very aeroDOGnamic on the race track, but It’ll sure win for style!

Birthday Feast

To celebrate his 24th birthday, I took Chris to one of Boise’s most famed establishments, Big Jud’s, to conquer the 1lb burger. It was a mammoth sized portion but oh so deliciouse. We are used to driving an over-sized hot dog! Together we couldn’t finish the burger, but it was a meal fit for a birthday king.

Look at that thing…it’s the size of his head!

The Evergreen State

They don’t call Washington the “Evergreen State” for no reason. Driving through the state you’ll see thousands and thousands of evergreen trees everywhere you go. These trees don’t loose their needles in the winter so even in January the state is lush and green.

Cutting A Rug

Modesto, CA is home to the Casa de Modesto retirement center where we visited residents one day, gave rides and had buns of fun with everyone! We were lucky enough to get invited back to their annual Valentine’s Day dance the next evening. We cruised over to the dance in style! Why take a limo when you have a 27-foot-long hot dog?

The residents can sure cut a rug! We danced, we mingled and listened to beautiful sounds of the local band and. It was a bunderful evening!

Detour to the Oregon Coast

As a Midwestern girl born and raised I’m used to cold and snowy winters. Travelling the Pacific Northwest has afforded me the opportunity to experience a different kind of winter. One without subzero temperatures and 3 feet of snow. Although this part of the country does get more wet and rainy weather we experienced a few beautiful days in Oregon. On our way to Seattle we decided to take advantage of the warm air and sunshine and made a detour to the Oregon Coast.

Our destination was the small town of Seaside, OR. While walking the streets and checking out the sights we discovered a kite shop. I picked out our lucky kite and headed for the beach. Chris and I had a BUNderful time flying our kite and wading in the water of the Pacific. If it was a few degrees warmer I may have even went for a swim.
