Ok, so you probably have no idea who a Hotdogger is and what a Hotdogger does.

Well, it’s one of us, the guys and gals who drive the Wienermobile, criss-crossing the country, looking for bridges that are high enough to drive under so we don’t get stuck . We thought it was only fair that you get to see the inside of the Wienermobile – including the people driving it. So, that’s why we created this blog. We hope you enjoy reading our stories and experiencing what being a Hotdogger is all about. We appreciate every wave we receive on the road and are thrilled you’re reading and commenting here.

We’ll try to respond if we can… (after all, there’s a lot of ground to cover). – The Hotdoggers

The Biggest Little City

Reno, NV prides itself on being the World’s Biggest Little City, so we were excited to bring the world’s biggest hot dog on wheels to town!

As I always say, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.”  While we were in Reno, we did just that!  We decided to try out bingo with some of the locals.  We didn’t cut the mustard, but we did have buns of fun!

WEENR Vision: Snake River Canyon

When Bunderful Beth and I entered Idaho, we expected lots of potatoes (the bottom of the license plate even says “Famous Potatoes” on it).  We ran into something we didn’t expect: the view at Snake River Canyon!  We took some pictures, but that didn’t really do it justice. I thought I’d share it with you the way that I saw it, through the windshield of a giant hot dog! WEENR relished the view almost as much as we did…

Blast from the Past

Oroville, CA – The Wienermobile brings back memories of childhood for nearly everyone that sees it and we love hearing people’s stories.  When we traveled to Oroville, we met Jerry Dunwoody and he had a story so unique that we were intrigued.

In 1957, Jerry was the first of our kind: a driver of the world famous Wienermobile!  Toting around the world’s smallest chef, Jerry hit the open road in the classic version of our ride.  We invited him in for a cruise around town and heard all about his adventure!  He told us about how much he loved his job, how much fun he had with Little Oscar, and the pride he felt driving the most recognizable hot dog on wheels.  I guess some things never change!

Here he is showing off the vehicle that he once drove, now on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan:

Jerry was impressed with our modern-day Wienermobile and its plush, ketchup and mustard colored seats.  He and his wife said they couldn’t thank us enough for the opportunity to ride around town in style, but we couldn’t thank them enough for sharing their wonderful memories of Wienermobile past!  We know that someday, we too, will look back fondly upon our time spent on the hotdog highways.

Something Fishy…

WEENR at Pike's Market

WEENR at Pike's Market

Seattle, WA – Perhaps the most famous part of town, Pike’s Market in Seattle welcomes hundreds of tourists each day.  The people that worked there were surprised when we stopped by with WEENR for a visit.  The fishermen were interested in the Wienermobile, but we were equally as interested in learning about their jobs!  They even let us get a feel for it by shoveling ice.

Beth and Allison try their hands at shoveling ice

Throwing fish around seemed fun, but I think I’ll stick to the hot dog business for now.  The smell is much better!

One of the best parts of hotdogging around America is the view!  We like to enjoy the scenery through the windshield of our giant hot dog and our drive from California to Oregon was no exception!  Bunderful Beth and I pulled over for photo ops a few times that day.  While we’re taking pictures of our surroundings, people are surrounding us to snap a few pictures of the Wienermobile!!

For the Love of Lunch

Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate the people you love, even if those “people” are 27 feet in length, shaped like a hot dog, and are resting on a lightly toasted fiberglass bun.  This Valentine’s Day, Bunderful Beth and I showed our Wienermobile how much we love it by decorating the inside!  We thought about doing the classic routine of flowers and chocolate, but figured a hot dog may not appreciate the gesture!

Happy Valentine’s Day from Bunderful Beth, All-Beef Allison and WEENR!

All the right toppings

Portland, OR – Bunderful Beth and I visited one of Portland’s quirkiest attractions: The Hat Museum.  There were 1,000’s of hats dating all the way back to the late 1800s.  We got to try a couple of hats on ourselves, but none were big enough to fit WEENR!

Hot Dog Hall of Fame

Home to the Hot Dog Hall of Fame and All-Beef Allison!

Home to the Hot Dog Hall of Fame and All-Beef Allison!

Rockford, Michigan is more than just my hometown!  It’s the hometown to the Corner Bar and the famous Hot Dog Hall of Fame!  The walls are covered with names of many famous “hotdogs”.  The Wienermobile is 60 hot dogs long.  I think that more than qualifies us to go up on the wall and go down in history!

YUMMY at the Beach

Grand Haven, MI – Nothing could keep me away from Lake Michigan, not even snow and freezing temps!  Today I shared my love of the Great Lakes with A-Dog Adam and YUMMY.  We didn’t get to go for a dip, but we enjoyed the view!

Battling the Elements

In Rockford, Michigan the snow drifts measured in around two feet!  The Wienermobile was pretty buried with snow and we had to clear a path just to get to it!  Even with her dog and bun covered, YUMMY kept on smiling!!
