Life Inside the Wienermobile Vehicle

Stories from the road

Hasta la vista, Baby

During our recent visit to CBS’ The Early Show we were greeted by a somewhat menacing figure, The Terminator!  No, not Arnold Schwarzenegger!  The T-800 Model 101 Terminator, to be exact, visited the show to promote the newest installment in the Terminator film series.  Salchicha Selena and The A-Dog relished the opportunity to snap a photo with the T-800 before he had to continue on with his mission.  Careful Selena, that’s a firm grip he has!

Talk about a Jumbo Dog!

Lunch Lovin’ and A-Dog got a special visit from Cooper, our new and fairly large hot dog-lovin’ friend.  Cooper is a Great Dane and was immediately drawn to the Wienermobile although I think he was a little disappointed when he found out that OUR DOG isn’t an actual hot dog!  Corny Dog Cooper hails from York, Pennsylvania and is one of our first visitors this summer to get his picture taken with our Jumbo Beef Frank which you can dress up with all your favorite condiments!  So come on out and “ketchup” with us all summer and “relish” the opportunity to dress your dog with your favorite fixins.

Getting “Cozy” in Springfield

Springfield, Illinois introduced Yummy to The Cozy Dog Drive In.  This timeless restaurant is located on historic Route 66 and has been serving up its famous “Cozy Dog” and Oscar Mayer hot dogs since 1949!  Sue and the whole Cozy Dog crew welcomed us with open arms and we got to exchange some memorabilia.  We got our very own set of plush Cozy Dogs and we left some Wienermobilia for decoration in the cafe.  A very big “frank you” to everyone at the drive in and make sure and check out their website for more pictures, including a visit by LTL LNK to Cozy Dog!

King of Hot Dogs meets “Ace of Cakes”

Lunch Lovin’ Larisa and I brought Big Bun to the Charm City Cakes bakery in Baltimore, home to the hit Food Network show Ace of Cakes.  Duff Goldman and the Charm City crew have been creating confectionary masterpieces for nine years and six seasons on Food Network.  Not only are they awesome cake artists but also huge fans of the Wienermobile.  We gave them rides in Big Bun and they gave us an exclusive tour of the shop including their newest edition, the Wienermobile cake we made them!

Check out Larisa’s exclusive interview with Duff and Mary Alice:

Special Thanks to Duff, Mary Alice and the entire Charm City Cakes for a bunderful experience!

The Great Pennsylvania Sandwich Debate

We Hotdoggers have traveled coast to coast and have the opportunity to sample many different cuisines in all regions of this country.  One thing about Pennsylvania that stands alone is the battle of opinion between the different style of sandwiches of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.  Everybody here has their own opinion and we would like to hear yours.

Do you prefer the classic Philly Cheese Steak with melted cheese, peppers, onions and maybe mushrooms?

Or would you like a Pittsburgh steak sandwich piled high with cheese, cole slaw and french fries?

Big Bun is “Home Alone”

Larisa, Ben, Selena and I were lucky dogs in Chicago and had the opportunity to visit the infamous McCallister house from the classic Christmas film Home Alone.  Yes it’s true, the very house where Kevin jumped on the bed, ordered his very own cheese pizza and oh yeah, was saved from the bumbling Wet Bandits!  Revisiting your childhood is something we encounter everyday with the Wienermobile and the chance to combine these special icons was franktastic.

Check out a special video from the visit:  Wienermobile is \”Home Alone\”

Five States in Five Days!

5 states in 5 days! Yummy has taken us to Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois this past week and it was quite a whirlwind.  The eastern part of the Midwest is new to us this year and we were very excited to get out and explore this beautiful part of the country.

We met a 90+ year old woman whose favorite color is red and she rides a mo-ped of the same shade.  A Warsaw, Indiana legend, this woman scoots around town famously to the delight of her admirers.  We were very happy to add a touch of Oscar Mayer red to her collection with a Wiener Whistle.

Yummy was also able to sneak a quick trip to Kentucky, making it our eighth state visited since June!  Burlington, Kentucky was the site of a car show benefiting Shriner’s burn hospitals and hosting hundreds of antique and custom hot-rod automobiles, but none quite like the Wienermobile.  We did however meet a man with a 1940s-era Model T which he so graciously nicknamed the Green Wienie in our honor.
