The Scenic Krauts of Iowa!

While driving to the Forth of July parade in Colesburg, Iowa, R-Dog Rachel and I got to view the beautiful scenic krauts of the countryside. With IWSHIWR by our side, we got to see a side of Iowa that not many dogs get to see and we really relished the experience. Hope your Forth was as memorable as ours! Ketchup with you later!

Misty and Me

I made a new friend at our event in Elmwood Park, IL. Her name is Misty– she’s 50% teacup chihuahua, 50% miniature dachshund (AKA wiener dog), and 100% the smallest dog I have ever seen. We became fast friends after realizing our shared interest in reenacting scenes from “The Lion King.”

A Wiener Roast and an Anniversary Toast

Say Hello to Victoria and William! On July 10th it was their 35th wedding anniversary in South Padre Island, Texas. What better way to relish in the moment than by taking a picture in front of LTL LINK, which commorates the 125th anniversary of the Oscar Mayer brand?

Oh I wish many happy years to come for Victoria and William.

This is the Port Isabel Lighthouse: Built in 1852!

The Dog Days of Summer

People of all ages relish the opportunity to see the Wienermobile and so do their canine companions.  While in Savannah, we met Susan and Jeff and their dachshunds Maggie and Bandit.  The two dogs pawsed to take a peek and check out our aerodognamic vehicle.  They sure new how to ham it up in front of the camera.   They wrote about seeing the Wienermobile from a wiener dog’s perspective.

We also met Denneillia and her playful pooch while traveling the Hot Dog Highways.  Dogs may be man’s best friend, but after seeing the reaction from these pups, we think the Wienermobile might just be dog’s best friend.

The Wienermobile MEATS SOME FRIENDS in D.C.

The 18th Annual Safeway Barbecue Battle takes place in Washington D.C. every year in June.  The barbecue battle lasts two days and there are wieners in many different categories.  Meep!  Meep! Maria and I got to spend the weekend in D.C., meat lots of people and see some of the areas top meat.

WNR MBLE at the Safeway Barbecue Battle.

The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile wasn’t the only lucky dog from KRAFT to be at the barbecue.  We took WNR MBLE around Pennsylvania Avenue to meat up with some of his KRAFT friends.

Lumberjack ATTACK!!!

Since the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is a famous Wisconsin landmark, we thought it was a good idea to see more of the state’s unique features on our Dairy State tour, such as the Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, WI.

Although we arrived in Hayward three weeks before the event, we were still able to test our skills at the Lumberjack Bowl, thanks to our two nimble semi-professional log rolling coaches, James and Wyat.

In log rolling, the two competitors fight to stay afloat by running on top of a log and trying to sink the other lumberjack. I heard these matches can last several minutes before a competitor takes a tumble but I, however, was lucky if I stayed dry for several seconds. As we all expected, Wyat threw me in the lake.

Later, I donned some cleats and tried out the boom run, where two competitors race across parallel lines of rolling logs. I made it to the fourth log before crashing into the lake, so I think there’s potential to hit the semi-pro boom run circuit in 2011. Look out, Hayward.

Proud to be Daddy’s Little Princess

While in Savannah, GA for the 4th of July weekend, Brian the Bunderful and I got to meat many military families.  Savannah is near two large military bases and many children wanted to come see us so they could send a picture and Wiener Whistle to their mommies and daddies overseas.  Ashley was one little girl who wanted to spread the miles of smiles the Wienermobile brings all the way to Afghanistan.

Ashley wanted to share her photos with the Wienermobile with her daddy in Afghanistan.

Her dad was deployed in fall 2009 and won’t be back for his two-week visit until fall 2010.  Ashley’s dad has always thought she was a princess and encouraged her to enter in a pageant for a good cause.  Ashley won the Altamaha Southern Miss Ambassador by raising the most money for the Wounded Warriors Program.  Clad in red, white, and blue and her sash and crown, Ashley took photos by the Wienermobile to share with her dad and other troops.  We relished the opportunity to make memories with these dedicated families and hope the Wienermobile will bring smiles to the men and women fighting for our country.

Her Company Has a First Name… It’s O-S-C-A-R

While cruising the highways of Savannah, Georgia, Smiley Kylie and I couldn’t help but notice the large Boeing B-47 Stratojet we passed on several occasions.  To celebrate the 4th of July holiday, we decided to pay a visit to the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum.  While snapping photos with the various fighter jets around the perimeter of the parking lot as seen below, we had the opportunity to meat Holly.

The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17A

Holly was newly accepted into the United States Marine Corps 4th Battalion after graduating on July 2, 2010.  She told both Smiley Kylie and me that she was in the Oscar Company of the Marines, so we just had to get a photo with her and our Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! Holly was able to take a minute to pose for a picture in the comforts that OH I WISH had to offer.

After having met Holly, Smiley Kylie and I were still intrigued by the large B-47 we had passed so many times.  Museum security opened the back gate and gave us permission to drive around the building to park next to the plane.  We thought we had to operate a large vehicle…the Wienermobile seemed so small compared to the B-47 Stratojet.

This Boeing B-47 Stratojet, a United States Air Force bomber, has a length that is about 4 times longer and a wingspan that is more than 14 times wider than our Wienermobile.  Now that’s a big plane! This was certainly an Independence Day holiday that Smiley Kylie and I will always remember.  It’s important that we never forget our military and our freedoms that they fight for everyday.  Franks to all of our armed forces!

A Closer Look at the Mississippi River’s Scenic-krauts

After cruising the hot dog highways for a day, we stopped at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium in the Port of Dubuque.

The Mississippi River also brings miles of smiles to nature lovers in America! Look at how big IWSHIWR is grinning!

The Mississippi River is a unique transportation system of its own and peering into the glass tanks, I glimpsed a peek at the curious animals that call the river home.

Adorably, there was a mother and baby turtle sandwiched together on the rocks.

We saw turtles, lizards, and fish (oh my). There was a special lizard exhibit, and I learned that the Komodo Dragon, one of the larger four-footed reptiles, is about one-third the length of the Wienermobile (if you include its tail). There was also a large tank where groupers, catfish, river snakes, and this stern looking turtle were swimming around.

I wonder who is older? This wise looking turtle or the Wienermobile?
