Ok, so you probably have no idea who a Hotdogger is and what a Hotdogger does.

Well, it’s one of us, the guys and gals who drive the Wienermobile, criss-crossing the country, looking for bridges that are high enough to drive under so we don’t get stuck . We thought it was only fair that you get to see the inside of the Wienermobile – including the people driving it. So, that’s why we created this blog. We hope you enjoy reading our stories and experiencing what being a Hotdogger is all about. We appreciate every wave we receive on the road and are thrilled you’re reading and commenting here.

We’ll try to respond if we can… (after all, there’s a lot of ground to cover). – The Hotdoggers

Every Dog has their Day

Even though Laura had only seen the Wienermobile for the first time three years ago, she has been collecting Wienermobile memorabilia for 15 years.  Meep! Meep! Maria and I were lucky enough to meat Laura in Roanoke, VA.  Laura had only seen sausage a thing once before so we were able to give the avid Wienermobile collector her first tour of WNR MBLE.

Laura and I with all of her Wienermobile memorabilia.

Laura is interested in toy shows and her hobby is collecting novelty radio, telephones, and her Wienermobile collection.  Frankly, she says her Wienermobile collection is her, “most prized” because, “Wienermobile memorabilia is the hardest to find.”

A closer look at Laura's collection!

A closer look at Laura's collection!

Laura had some bunderful memorabilia, some of which I had never seen.

Laura displays her top dog collection in her living room.  With all the Wiener Whistles, Wienermobile banks, the Beenie Wienermobiles, the ring, the watch and so much more, she hopes to add to her collection.  One day she hopes to add Wienermobile fabric for quilt making to her collection.

eBay Winner and his “Top Dog” Ride SHOTBUN!

Joe Molina of West Hills, CA grilled the fierce competition with the highest bid for the Oscar Mayer “Ride SHOTBUN in the Wienermobile for the Day” package on eBay, and as a result got to ride in style for a day! Nacho Cheese Nikita and I were happy to take part in the franktastic fiesta with Joe, his dog Professor “Ryley” Barker and his family as they celebrated the win at their Southern California home. Joe’s inspiration to bid came in honor of top-dog Ryley’s 10th birthday (that’s 70 in dog years). Joe won Oscar Mayer hot dogs, grilling gear and was able to spread his Good Mood by letting neighbors, friends, family and of course the guest of honor, Ryley, take a ride in the Wienermobile.  Franks for the memories!

Bloomfield Firefighters to the Rescue!

Hey Y’all

Today at our event in Bloomfield, New Mexico, the chief firefighter made us an offer we had to

relish.

Not only did Pepper Jackie Cheese and I get to ride shotbun in Bloomfield’s very own fire engine; but while we were out, RelishMe got her buns washed! Since the Firefighters were so nice to us, we took them around town premium dog-style, in the Wienermobile!

Shout out to the Bloomfield Fire Department and Engine #2, franks for the doggone time!

OH I WISH “Meats” Other Fun and Famous Vehicles

No matter where Smiley Kylie and I travel with our Wienermobile, we always seem to find other vehicles that are fun or famous on the road.  The first well-known vehicle we met while working in Morgantown, West Virginia was non-other than a Mater look-a-like from the movie Cars.

The gentleman that was responsible for renovating a pickup truck to look like Mater told us he is also currently renovating a race car to look like Lightning McQueen, the main character from Cars.  In continuing our travels down to Savannah, Georgia, we had a man ask if he could take a picture of both of our vehicles together.  He definitely had a cool looking car, but it was no comparison to our Wienermobile.  This guy drove a Lotus, which was definitely a lot smaller than OH I WISH.

When he told us the Lotus could go really fast, we told him that our Wienermobile could really haul buns too, but we make sure to stay within the speed limit.  Lastly, when arriving in St. Petersburg, Florida, we stopped by a fire station to give OH I WISH a bath.  After the cleaning, the fire fighters wanted to get a photo of their largest engine with our vehicle.  While OH I WISH may not have the flashy lights and sirens, it boasts the famous jingle for a horn and can definitely bring smiles to everyone’s face.

While Smiley Kylie and I have had the opportunity to meat several fun vehicles with our Wienermobile, the adventures are sure to continue and we can’t wait to continue our buns of fun during our travels.

WEENR sees a Working Windmill

This windmill is about 133 Hot Dogs high!

As Hotdoggers, we drive a lot. It is always nice to take a break every once in a while and check out some local sights. One roadside find is this: the Danish Windmill of Elk Horn, Iowa. Windmills are generally used for harnessing the power of the wind to use as a grinding mill. Perhaps this windmill was lucky enough to grind grains for some hot dog buns. Elk Horn and the surrounding area are home to a large Danish settlement.

Built in 1848, this windmill was shipped to the United States in 1976 for the US Bicententennial. Interestingly, Denmark passed a law after this windmill was sent to the US that forbids any export of Danish windmills. So there you have it, the ONLY working Danish windmill in the United States!

Splish, Splash, OH I WISH Needs a Bath

Just like any other vehicle, our Hot Dog Hotrod needs a good wash every once in a while.  But, it is hard to squeeze our buns into a normal car wash.  Brian the Bunderful and I found that it is a good idea to take the Wienermobile somewhere where they are used to 27-foot-long vehicles—a fire station!  The Southside Volunteer Fire Department in Savannah, GA and the St. Petersburg Fire Department in Florida were thrilled to have the Wienermobile sandwiched in next to their trucks.  The firefighters generously shared their water and washing supplies with us and even let us try on their gear!  When it was squeaky clean, OH I WISH looked as slick as a  Lamborgweenie.

Food for Thought

While in Council Bluffs, IA, Picklin’ Pat and I stumbled on this statue of people suited in size for the Wienermobile.

This statue was description-less which leaving us with some food for thought.  Are these men ‘hugging it out’ because they love hot dogs and more importantly, the Wienermobile?  Or perhaps they’re fighting over who gets to ride Shotbun in the Wienermobile?

What’s your food for thought?

LTL LINK in Ink

Meg Shows her Wienermobile Pride

Tate-yum and I were lucky enough to have LTL LINK, the smallest member of the Wienermobile fleet, for the fourth of July holiday. After Independence Day, we took LTL LINK to sunny South Padre Island for a week.

One activity that’s very popular on the beach is getting temporary henna tattoos. Meg, a student at Texas State University in San Marcos, decided to show her love of the Wienermobile.

Hotdoggers with a side of Nacho Cheese

Hey Y’all,

I went to see my first Madison Mallards baseball game and got to share a hot dog with my co-pilot Pepper Jackie Cheese.

After we finished our hot dog, I managed to find some food to match my name.

See you on the hot dog highways!
