Life Inside the Wienermobile Vehicle

Stories from the road

My Kind of Town Chicago

Chicago, IL is well known for their hot dogs and their skyscrapers. We saw the two of the tallest buildings in the windy city through BOLOGNA’s bunroof.

Kristin Chenoweth helps Oscar Mayer brand lead the Good Mood Mission

If you’ll remember, we recently had the opportunity to participate in a super-sneaky flash mob with Kristin Chenoweth in Los Angeles to kick off the Good Mood Mission campaign. If you haven’t heard about the Good Mood mission, Kristin explains all the bunderful details in this video. (NOTE: The video opens in Facebook.)

So far, we’ve had more than 250,000 Good Moods recorded at http://goodmoodmission.com. It’s really simple to help us out, and you’re doing a franktastic thing just by filling in the blank: “it doesn’t get better than ______.”

Hope to ketchup with you soon!

Wienermobile Weathers Well, Hotdogger Holds onto Hope for Self

There needs to be a song on how to survive the snow. Something like:

“In winter don’t be a fool, wool socks are stylish and cool, wear long johns as a base layer, to avoid that icy-wind slayer, make sure to buy clothing that wicks, so that you don’t end up in bed sick, and most of all don’t forget the hat to warm the brain, or you’ll make it hard for your body to sustain.”

So, I’m not sure it’ll catch on…BUT, the point is still the same! I was warned by Northerners’ that it gets cold. That’s an understatement! Dijon John and I were stuck in a blizzard in New York. Nothing could prepare me for what 8 degrees and snow make for. Let’s do a photo recap, shall we?

BOLOGNA before the blizzard!

Here comes the snow!!!

Does anyone have a Wienermobile-sized jacket?

I was in in snow-shock–I think you can see that for yourself!

Ten inches in less than twelve hours. This is after the parking lot was cleared of snow.

One good thing about snow however, I made a Snowdogger :)

Dachshunds visit the Wienermobile

Having 2 Dachshunds of my own back in Texas, I love seeing Dachshunds and their owners come by the Wienermobile. This little guy was a trooper. He was 15 years old, and only had 3 legs.

Georgia Aquarium has the best jellyfish

The Wienermobile made an unexpected trip to the Georgia Aquarium and had a doggone good time!  The Georgia Aquarium is known for its saltwater aquarium.  But what melted my cheddar was the jellyfish tank and the whale slide.

The First Dog.

The Wienermobile attracts a lot of attention from people and furry friends everywhere it goes. “Buddy” was the first dog to visited the Wienermobile in the first week of 2010. “Buddy” was so sweet and even took a picture with me.

 Smile, Cheesy Wienies!

Pony up some apples!

We were visited by the owners of two miniature ponies in Brandford, CT. The owner came to check out the Wienermobile, but her ponies were more interested in Torey Toppings’ giant bag of apples!

Hanging Out With The Goodyear Blimp

After being in Los Angeles for so long, I decided to convince Atta-dog-Adam to take a detour through Carson so we could see the Goodyear Blimp. My eyes lit up with amazement, as we approached the launching pad. The Goodyear Pilots were just as excited to see The Wienermobile, as we were to see The Goodyear Blimp. Just like The Wienermobile it is an American icon that has been around since 1925, though there are only 3 blimps in the entire country. We had the pleasure of meeting “The Spirit of America” which is the blimp based in Carson, California which is known as a “Aerial Ambassador. We even got invited for a close look inside where I got to sit in the pilot’s chair. This experience was definitely something to relish.

Winter Time; Winter Gear.

As I got to Oklahoma City, I really felt the winter season. It was below freezing and starting to ice. But the cold weather was not going to stop us Hotdoggers from bringing the Wienermobile to the events and Spreading Miles of Smiles. In order to achieve this, I needed winter gear. After standing for about twenty minutes in the cold, my feet started to feel very cold and uncomfortable, but as I went inside the store to warm up, I Saw It! I saw a pair of thermal wool socks. As soon as I bought them and put them on I thought Oh I Wish! I should have bought these before. It was so much better for my feet. For this winter season, don’t forget thermal socks!

USC Marching Band Tops It’s Dog with Spirit

At the kickoff of the Good Mood Mission in Los Angeles, MmmK and I were lucky enough to lead the way for the University of Southern California Marching Band, behind Kristin Chenoweth:

I was also lucky enough to grab a quick shot with the fabulous Ms. Chenoweth, who likes her hot dogs like she likes her singing: top notch.

Los Angeles may have been drizzling on us that day, but you couldn’t tell by how high everyone’s spirits were.

It doesn’t get better than 12 Hotdoggers, Kristin Chenoweth, Flashmob America, 4 Wienermobile Vehicles, and unlimited smiles.
