Life Inside the Wienermobile Vehicle

Stories from the road

Found It!

Cruisin’ Crystal and I, on our long and not-so-long drive days in the Wienermobile, search for easy ways to entertain ourselves. This can include anything from singing at the top of our lungs to searching for the letters of the alphabet in order on passing billboards.

One of the games that has consumed our time is the License Plate Game. It consists of writing down all 50 states on a sheet of paper and crossing them off as you find them. As of a few days ago, we were down to 10, including the Hawaii license plate (we had already found Alaska woohoo!).

While walking down the street and passing a souvenir shop, Crystal laid eyes on the prize that seemed to evade us: a Hawaii license plate.

As much as she wanted to count it, I told her no and we moved on, only to find it again! This time we could check it off fair and square.

The ones remaining on our list are: Connecticut, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont and West Virginia.

If you own a car with one of these plates and are in the southwest area, please don’t hesitate to stop by one of our events so that we can reach our goal. Frank you!

Ruby Falls

Lil’ Links Laura and I got to take an underground journey to see the fabulous Ruby Falls in Chattanooga, Tennessee! Ruby Falls is the highest underground waterfall in America, plunging 145 feet (or about 300 hot dogs) within the depths of Lookout Mountain.

Leo Lambert opened up the falls to the public in 1929 and named them after his wife, Ruby.  If I ever discover some waterfalls, I’m going to name it after my favorite lady – YUMMY, the Wienermobile!

Born to be Behind the Wheel of a Wienermobile

The weather was shining down on Grand Rapids, Michigan, so it’s a good thing my partner Dijon John and myself like our buns toasted. The city was so enthusiastic about our arrival, that they had no problem braving the 96 degree day to celebrate the things in life that make them happy, like the Wienermobile.

One little fan stood out to me in the biggest way: Evan grew up behind the wheel of the Wienermobile, as his dad is a huge Oscar Mayer Fan. He hopes to be a Hotdogger when he grows up. Maybe you’ll be seeing him in Hot Dog High Class 30! What a franktastic thought!

Evan was three-years-old when this picture was taken. He's now eleven!

A Labor Day Grill-Out to Relish

All summer long people could enter to win a Labor Day grill-out with the Wienermobile. Sherri from Rhode Island was the lucky winner!

In true Wienermobile style, we pulled up to celebrate with her family and friends. And, what Labor Day grill-out would be complete without hot dogs roasting on the grill. After a delicious meal, the whole gang gathered to sing us the jingle.

Thanks Sherri! It was a FRANKtastic day!

A Model Dog with a Model T

While hanging out at an Ingles in Asheville, North Carolina, we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a very rare 1925 Model T!

This car even predates the Wienermobile (first cooked up in 1936!), and features a wooden steering wheel and a hand-operated windshield wiper. I gotta say, even though I really liked the look of the first mass-produced automobile, I’m glad we have a specialty model – the world famous Wienermobile!

Its All Fun and Games Driving in the Wienermobile

On the road, Doggone Dave and I have come up with some bunderfully fun games! Our new favorite game is called ”Highway Hot dog”. We count how many mustard (yellow) ketchup (red) and relish (green) cars we see. Each car counts for a point, and at the end of the day the one with the most points wins! Its buns of fun and the winner gets to be the condiment King for the day!

The WIENERMOBILE in Space (NASA)

Guac’alupe and I were fortunate enough to take OH I WISH to the NASA space center in Houston, TX. The guys at NASA love Oscar Mayer and the Wienermobile so much they took us on an exclusive VIP tour of the space center. Take a gander at the pictures below; you may notice the new moon rover looks a lot like the Wienermobile.

Deep Fried Goodness

Another delicious food on a stick!

No that’s not a corn dog, it’s a deep fried Twinkie! Although Rachel Relish and I enjoy a frank on a stick, we decided to try a Twinkie on a stick. And it sure was delicious! At the fair we also got to try a lot of other bunderful treats.
Check out that display!

Another new treat we tried was a corn fritter. We had never heard of a corn fritter, but were curious when everyone walking by was eating them and tempting us with the deep fried, golden ball of goodness. And what a franktastic bundle of battered and deep fried corn it was!
Look how big that fritter is! Yummy!

We can’t wait until the next fair where we can try more deep fried goodness!

Oscar Mayer hot dog fan gets Inked

Amarillo, TX has some serious hot dog lovers. Here is an Oscar Mayer hot dog connoisseur that will remain nameless. But I would like to reveal her franktastic tattoo. She has been eating hot dogs her entire life and was donned the nickname “Hot Dog” as a result. This delicious tattoo has made the nickname official.
