Ok, so you probably have no idea who a Hotdogger is and what a Hotdogger does.

Well, it’s one of us, the guys and gals who drive the Wienermobile, criss-crossing the country, looking for bridges that are high enough to drive under so we don’t get stuck . We thought it was only fair that you get to see the inside of the Wienermobile – including the people driving it. So, that’s why we created this blog. We hope you enjoy reading our stories and experiencing what being a Hotdogger is all about. We appreciate every wave we receive on the road and are thrilled you’re reading and commenting here.

We’ll try to respond if we can… (after all, there’s a lot of ground to cover). – The Hotdoggers

Don’t Feed The Bears

I’ve always been a sucker for animals and giveaways. So naturally I was thrilled to find out that the St. Louis Zoo has free admission. My friend Catherine was in the area so we hopped in the Wienermobile (her first ride) and drove to the zoo.

This bear is obviously hungry. Unfortunately the zoo keeper wouldn't let me feed it a pack of Oscar Mayer Jumbo Beef Franks.
The Great Hornbill

The Great Hornbill's black and gold feathers brought out my school pride.

BlogHers get a bunderful ride!

Lil’ Links Laura and I were in the Windy City this past weekend, seeing how Chicago tops their dogs (hope you like pickle spears!) and attending the annual BlogHer conference! BlogHer is a conference centered around female bloggers, and how they write about their work, family, and friends. These fine ladies taught us a lot about what makes a good blog, and in return we gave them a ride around town in the Wienermobile! They got to ride shotbun, enjoy the ketchup-and-mustard seats, and learn the most important rule of riding in the Wienermobile: wave and smile at everyone! Everyone had a blast on these rides (some people were so excited they started blogging and/or tweeting from inside the Wienermobile), and we can’t wait to ketchup with these bloggers throughout the year!

Birds like Hot Dogs, too…

11-year-old Katie of Fargo, North Dakota, brought us a special visitor. Her one-of-a-kind pet bird arrived on her shoulder, chirping away for over twenty minutes. His orange and red colors fit right in with WEENR. He even enjoyed a hot dog bun!

Protecting our buns in L.A. Traffic

California traffic is a little crazy. Passengers are so excited to see the Wienermobile on I-10 that they are taking pictures while riding shot-bun. I have to admit, we are on a good start to spreading miles of smiles across the southwest region of the U.S. Just a precaution always wear your meat belts while driving on I-10.

“The Pizza to Come Home to”

The Wienermobile at Wally's Pizza
The Wienermobile at Wally’s Pizza

Cambridge, OH. Rachel Relish and I heard about Wally’s Pizza, a local favorite, from some community members and figured we would try it during our stay. As Hotdoggers we really love hot dogs, but we are also big fans of pizza! And boy are we glad we tried it! Wally’s Pizza is known as “the pizza to come home to,” because so many people will get it when they come back and visit. We completely agree, and would definitely come back to Wally’s Pizza whenever we come back to visit Cambridge, OH. Franks a lot to the lovely owners of Wally’s Pizza for the great pizza!

We’re not in Kansas anymore (and missing it!)

Beautiful scenery, hot days, and incredibly friendly people are the norm in Wichita, Kansas in the summertime. Lil’ Links Laura and I were fortunate enough to experience all of these fine qualities during our week long visit to the largest city in the 34th state – we cruised through the bucolic Flint Hills, caught a movie at the renowned Warren Theatre, and strolled around the lovely Old Town district. The people were very kind and welcoming, so much so that it was tough to see Kansas behind us in our side-view mirror (no rear-view mirror in the Wienermobile)!

Miss West Fargo Chillin’ in our Dog

In West Fargo, North Dakota, 18-year-old Megan, also known to many as Miss West Fargo, stopped by to hang out with us and grill some hot dogs. Megan spent the afternoon selling Oscar Mayer Jumbo Beef Franks, donated by Sunmart, to raise money for a group of teenagers from her local church to travel to Denver, Colorado, for a mission trip. We were honored to have such royalty around!

Freedom Franks!

Mercedese knows how to dress for the occasion. No one could argue how franktastically appropriate her shirt is and, in good Hotdogger spirit, we just had to snap a picture. What better way to celebrate our month of July festivities?

Oscar Mayer Dogs and Hot Dogs helped for a good cause.

Buscuit helping us

Biscuit helping us

Oscar Mayer and several retail stores helped raised money for The Texas Chidren’s Hospital in Houston this week.  It was amazing to see people contribute to this good cause by stopping at the event, buying Oscar Mayer hot dogs and taking pictures with the Wienermobile.  Biscuit was one of the hot dogs that stopped by to take a picture with the Wienermobile.

Cruising with Some Classics

The Wienermobile doesn’t quite fit in with other vehicles on the road.  It’s bigger, wider, heavier and it looks a little different.  But the Classic Car Club of Jamestown, North Dakota invited WEENR and the Hotdoggers to join them at their summer gathering.  We ate some bunderful barbecue, checked out some cool classic cars and joined the whole club for an evening cruise through Jamestown.  We definitely took the scenic kraut!

Franks for letting us join you! We had buns of fun!
