Johnny Salami fences!
- Over the top!
- Very intimidating
Well, it’s one of us, the guys and gals who drive the Wienermobile, criss-crossing the country, looking for bridges that are high enough to drive under so we don’t get stuck . We thought it was only fair that you get to see the inside of the Wienermobile – including the people driving it. So, that’s why we created this blog. We hope you enjoy reading our stories and experiencing what being a Hotdogger is all about. We appreciate every wave we receive on the road and are thrilled you’re reading and commenting here.
We’ll try to respond if we can… (after all, there’s a lot of ground to cover). – The Hotdoggers
Check out the amazing mountains of Albuquerque, New Mexico! Meaty Magaly and I braved the longest aerial tramway in the world, rising up to the peak of Sandia Mountain at an astounding 10,378 feet above sea level. As we looked out the glass windows of the tram on the way down, we were greeted by Little Link. There’s no losing your vehicle in the parking lot for us! Can you find the Mini-Wienermobile?
Although the Wienermobile may be the largest hot dog on wheels, we met a Santa that made the Wienermobile look like a cocktail weenie!
So, as you can see, Santa wins!
Happy Holidogs from Hamanda and I in San Francisco!
Clermont, FL
Today we were honored to help the Clermont, FL Winn-Dixie team host an event to benefit Hound Haven. Hound Haven is a local animal shelter dedicated to putting stray animals in good homes. Winn-Dixie brought in a racecar simulator, a fabulous hotdog stand complete with Oscar Mayer hotdogs and of course the Wienermobile. At the end of the day we helped Winn-Dixie present Hound Haven with a check for $880.62 and the proceeds are still coming in!
We were lucky enough to meet Santa Claus in Johns Creek, GA! He sure did like our Wienermobile; maybe next year Santa will be delivering presents in a 27-foot-long hot dog rather than a sleigh! Now only if we could make the Wienermobile fly…
Even though only a little over 300 of us lucky dogs have held the prestigious hotdogging position since 1988, we seem to run into Wienermobile alumni everywhere we travel!
Case in point: In Mission, TX, a town near South Padre Island and the border of Mexico, we ran into a member of Hotdogger Class II. She showed us some serious Texas hospitality and grilled us steak for dinner, but one of our favorite parts of the visit was perusing all of her 1989 Wienermobile memorabilia. Check it out!
Green Bay, WI – We’ve run into Packers fans all over Wisconsin. Nothing could quite compare to the excitement we found in their own hometown, Green Bay! During our visit, we taught our “dog” a new trick: snow driving! A-Dog Adam and I finally got to put our cheeseheads to good use in “Titletown.” They even served a practical purpose and helped keep us warm since temperatures dipped below zero! Now that, frankly, is a “Chili Dog!”
